History of Tali Shiva Temple

Swamy Thirumalpad was the Zamorin and had this temple constructed within the temple complex. It is these icons from the Mahabharata that form the focus of the seven day temple festival. This festival takes place annually at the time of the Malayalam language speaking populations New Year. These festivals have renditions of the various forms of classical musical and dances in an elaborate extravaganza that are attended by pilgrims, devotees and tourist from all over the world and various parts of the country as well as locally. There are a number of contests held among cultural bodies and individuals.

How to Reach Tali Shiva Temple

The Tali Shiva Temple can be reached from various prominent points like the GH Road in Kozhikode, the Palayam as also the MCC Bank junction besides the Samooham Road.

Connectivity by railways: The nearest railway junction is at Calicut. The railway station is a mere 800 meters away.

Connectivity by air: The International airport of Calicut lies at a distance of about twenty two kilometers. There is easy commutability from the airport by road. Taxis and private vehicles ply frequently between the Calicut airport and the Tali Shiva Temple. There is, however, a great rush during the festival days.

Connectivity by Bus: The Calicut Bus Station is 1km away only.
